So this shit is wild.

A teenager gets into a serious car wreck. Doctors look at the X-rays, say she's fine, and send her home with an ace bandage. You know, the usual "here's some Advil, you'll be fine" treatment.

But her mom wasn't buying it.

The kid's wrist looked off. Her hand was getting cold. She couldn't even move her thumb. Instead of just accepting what the doctors said (like most of us would), this mom remembered something Elon had posted about his AI bot Grok being able to read medical scans.

Fuck it, she thought. Let's see what GROK says.

She shows Grok the X-rays.

The bot immediately spots a fracture the doctors missed.

Not just any fracture - turns out it was serious enough that if they'd waited much longer, the kid would've needed surgery. The wrist specialist who gave the second opinion confirmed everything Grok said.

A robot just saved someone from surgery because actual medical professionals couldn't spot a broken bone.

Let that sink in.

Look, while we're here, let me tell you what else this thing can do, because it's kind of nuts:

  • It's basically got live access to everything happening on X (Twitter). So unlike ChatGPT, it actually knows what's going on right now.

  • You can switch it between serious mode and fun mode. (Though honestly, who uses serious mode?)

  • It'll make whatever images you want. And unlike other AI, it won't get all precious about generating pics of real people.

  • It fact-checks stuff in real-time. Actually useful when your uncle starts sharing conspiracy theories.

  • And apparently it'll plan your whole vacation. (Haven't tried this one yet, but hey, can't be worse than my planning.)

The best comment I saw about all this was someone saying "always trust a mother's instinct, even over experts." No joke - mom instincts plus robot brains might be the future of medicine.

But here's the thing - we probably shouldn't start replacing doctors with Elon's chatbot just yet.

Still though... a robot caught something multiple human doctors missed.

What a time to be alive.

Scenario: The AI Conundrum

Background: Imagine a future where AI has advanced to the point of near-human consciousness, creating a dilemma for society on how to integrate this intelligence.

The Dilemma:

  1. Grant Rights to AI

    • Pros: Acknowledges the sentient-like status of AI, potentially fostering a more ethical and responsible development and integration of AI in society.

    • Cons: Raises complex issues about the legal and social implications of non-human entities having rights, responsibilities, and the potential for AI to surpass human control.

  2. Regulate AI as Tools

    • Pros: Maintains clear boundaries between humans and machines, ensuring that AI remains under human control and is used as a sophisticated tool.

    • Cons: Ignores the potential sentient-like qualities of AI, possibly leading to ethical dilemmas surrounding the use and abuse of highly intelligent systems.

Given the scenario where AI has advanced significantly, should we:
