We’re in a Christmas mood, and what better way to celebrate than with some exciting tech news?

OpenAI’s festive campaign, "Shipmas," is underway!

Over 12 days, OpenAI is rolling out product releases, demos, and new features to spread some holiday cheer.

In a post on X, OpenAI teased:

"12 days. 12 livestreams. A bunch of new things, big and small. 12 Days of OpenAI starts tomorrow."

Honestly, they started off with a bang!

They dropped the full version of o1 which is supposedly way smarter than before.

Like, they're saying it makes 34% fewer mistakes? Pretty impressive.

Oh and they launched ChatGPT Pro thing for $200/month - kinda pricey if you ask me, but I guess some people really want the fancy stuff!

This was actually pretty cool - they're gonna let people customize o1 for their own needs.

Reuters is already using it for legal stuff, and some scientists are using it to study rare diseases. Won't be public until next year though, which is kind of a bummer.

Okay, this Sora thing is wild - it's their new AI video maker!

You can literally just describe what you want and get a 20-second video.

They've got these fun style options like film noir (fancy!) and something called "balloon world" which sounds kind of ridiculous but in a good way.

Plus users get 50 videos a month, Pro users get way more... though honestly, who needs that many AI videos?

They took their canvas tool and made it free for everyone using ChatGPT on the web.

The demo was pretty funny - they had ChatGPT pretend to be a physics professor reviewing an essay about Santa's sleigh.

Apple users, you lucked out!

Now you can use ChatGPT through Siri without even having an OpenAI account.

Pretty sweet if you're already in the Apple world.

Now this is cool - ChatGPT can actually watch and help you do stuff!

They showed it teaching someone how to make coffee, which is neat but also kind of weird when you think about it.

Like, imagine having an AI critiquing your coffee-making skills?

They rolled out "Projects" - basically helping you keep your ChatGPT stuff organized.

Only for paying users right now though, which is kind of FAIR.

They say everyone else will get it "soon" but we'll see about that!

Finally made SearchGPT public!

About time, honestly. Works with voice now too, and they added some map stuff. Pretty handy if you're tired of regular old Google.

This one was super techy - basically developer stuff. Probably exciting if you're into coding, but might put you to sleep otherwise!

Okay, this is actually hilarious - you can literally call ChatGPT now!

Like, on an actual phone!

They even tested it on a rotary phone which is just... why? 😂 But hey, if you're outside the US, you get WhatsApp access instead.

Yo, ChatGPT's getting even more plugged in with coding apps!

Last month, they made it work with some Mac coding apps. But now? They’re expanding it to even more tools. ChatGPT’s vibing with Apple Notes, Notion, Quip – you name it. Plus, you can launch Advanced Voice Mode and get the AI’s suggestions while you’re deep into your project. Big win for anyone coding or using these tools daily!

Alright, Day 12 is next level—OpenAI’s teasing their new o3 and o3-mini models.

Sam Altman dropped the news that these new models will straight-up crush o1 in math, science, and coding tests. The o3-mini is already out for some researchers to play with, but we’re still waiting to see when we can get our hands on it.

This is gonna be huge!

Still got two days left in this "Shipmas" thing. I'm kind of curious what else they're gonna pull out - they've already dropped some pretty big stuff!
